Wish List

This is a list of items that Exodus Farms is currently in need of or uses regularly to maintain our farm and program horses.  If you have an item you would like to donate, please email us at exodusfarms@gmail.com or contact Ginger Salido at 530-953-7178.

  • URGENTLY NEEDED: NEW riding helmets: Tipperary 8500 Sportage Helmets (all sizes; black preferred)  – We have found these to be the best at both fitting and protecting our young riders’ heads! All sizes needed, but especially Small and Extra Small. Black color preferred as it is better for taking photos of the kids! Unfortunately we cannot accept donations of used helmets for insurance purposes.
  • Horse “pill pockets”- Some of our horses take daily pills for conditions like arthritis and PPID. Pill pockets are essential for helping our horses with special needs get the medicine they need to stay healthy!
  • Individually wrapped snacks for the kids (no nuts, please, to avoid allergies!) – Such as fruit snacks, individually wrapped baggies of cookies, gold fish, etc. Our kids look forward to “snack time” at the end of each riding session, and with 90-110 kids attending each week, we go through a lot of snacks! 🙂
  • 4 Cashel mini/foal sized fly masks – Our mini herd needs eye protection over the summer just like our full sized horses, and this brand (sized “foal” or “mini”) is our favorite!
  • 2 “horse” sized and 2 “warmblood” sized Cashel fly masks with nose – Some of our horses are prone to fly sores on their mouth over our hot summer months, and these fly masks with nose and mouth protection are the best defense against those pesky flies.
  • One Donkey fly mask with nose and ears for our favorite “Burrito” who is VERY sensitive to flies… Mr. Chips! Size: “Mule Horse”, here’s our favorite!
  • One roll (100 ft) of 6′ “no climb” fencing – This will help us make needed repairs to Callie and Lilly’s “pony pen” fence (our favorite little black pony does love to push for grass… 😉 ).
  • Road base – Over the years, donations of road base have helped us immensely in directing heavy rainwater away from our barns and parking areas!
  • DG (decomposed granite) to improve the footing/flooring in our stalls and shelters
  • A load of sand for our round pen
  • Rubber stall mats – These make it MUCH easier to keep our stalls clean and dry, and help us conserve shavings! We currently have full sets of mats in three of the stalls in our chateau barn, and they have cut the cleaning time for those stalls in HALF, as well as keeping them MUCH drier in the winter months! We would LOVE to be able to put full sets of mats in ALL of our stalls to help our older horses who come inside during the winter!
  • Heavy duty plastic (not metal) wheelbarrows (Rubbermaid makes the best durable ones for getting through the mud!) – As you can imagine, we use wheelbarrows daily for all sorts of chores – cleaning stalls and pastures, raking up and collecting loose hay, delivering shavings, picking up downed branches and sticks, etc. We are often in need of good condition, heavy duty wheelbarrows to replace ones that have cracked or worn out from heavy use!
  • At least 8 10×12 Tarps – We can proabably find 100 uses for a tarp! We use them for training/desensitizing our horses, for various games and session activities, and for many practical uses around the farm like covering our shavings and manure piles. Unfortunately tarps don’t last forever and we are constantly in need of replacements!
  • Hula hoops! – The sturdier, the better! For the kiddos and horses to play with during sessions.
  • Jolly Balls – 3 small, 3 large – for the kiddos and horses to play with during sessions.
  • Beet Pulp (shredded or pelleted) – YUM! Most of our program horses receive a feeding of soaked beet pulp every day.  A donated bag makes a big difference!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (gallon-sized or larger) – Almost all of our program horses receive 1/2 cup to 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in their grain daily to combat arthritis. We go through 3-4 gallons per week, so an extra gallon is always an appreciated donation!
  • Carrots/Horse Treats – Many of our parents and younger siblings enjoy walking the property, simply visiting with the horses and feeding them carrots or treats. Our program horses also love to receive a treat from their rider as a reward for a job well done at the end of a session!
  • 5 or 6 inch PVC pipe (10 foot lengths) for building arena obstacles and jumps!
  • Paper towels

    • Feeders and Water Tanks – THANK YOU REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND! – A recent grant allowed us to purchase 21 new feeders (to keep horses from ingesting sand, which is bad for their health) and 6 large heavy-duty water tanks (to cut down on algae growth and tank breakage) for our pastures! The horses are VERY grateful, and so are we!
    • THANK YOU to SO MANY OF YOU who have provided saddles, bridles, tack and equipment, and so many more in-kind donations than we can even list. We are so grateful for every donation, it means the world to us. YOU mean the world to us.
